The process of making a rope is a multi-step endeavor. There are thousands of tiny Japanese or Czechoslovakian glass beads that I string onto a large spool of sturdy nylon thread which I then crochet into a rope. The beads form a spiral; there is no “core” to the rope which makes the piece fluid and serpentine in feel, as well as surprisingly lightweight.

Rope ends are then embellished with large end beads made from glass, wood, metal, or semi-precious stones. ...
